Ecosystems & Human Lifestyles – How do they interact?

Ecosystems and human lifestyle are intimately connected in many ways and develop over long periods of time for lots of reasons. Ecosystems provide essential services that support human well-being and lifestyle in terms of food, fun, health, culture, and recreation. The human activities though may help or cause degrading ecosystems and speed up this issue at an alarming rate. This may cause negative impacts on the whole system for both humans and the ecosystem’s resilience. To help with these challenges, we need to become more clever, sustainable and harmonious in the ways and processes we use in ways of living that respect and help the ecological balance of ecosystems so they can enhance their sustainability, productivity and resilience. We also need to do better with our lifestyle choices by consuming in better more stable ways, caring more holistically, and engaging more with a meaningful way with nature.
